Seaside Shore Interactive Card

Hi there,

it's been a while, but have I got a special card to show you.

 This card was inspired by the lovely Jessica Williams over at The Paper Caper. Click HERE to see her gorgeous card that I have been just champing at the bit to CASE. I was actually going to copy her whole card, because I absolutely love it. But then a funny thing happened ( more on that later). As you can see I didn't copy it exactly, BUT I did  copy  quite a few elements of Jessica's awesome card, especially using the Beautiful Branches thinlets for the coral!

 OK, so onto the funny thing that happened. I happened to come across an interactive/moving card tutorial with accompanying video (Awesome! My kind of tutorial) on the wonderful France Martin's blog, Stamp & Scrap with Frenchie. France also includes all written measurements and dimensions on her blog as well as in the video tutorial.Click HERE to see the tutorial and France's card. France calls it a peek-a-boo card. The minute I saw the tutorial I knew I had to make a card with the Seaside Shore stamp set. I have seen lots of cards using this stamp set on pinterest that feature a porthole and I just had to make the coral like Jessica Williams did, so my card was born. 

As you can see something happens when you open the card.

There is a panel that moves across and it reveals the sentiment. How amazing is that? I just love it!

Seaside Shore!

Hi there,

well I found myself with an unexpected day off today.....which meant that I got to craft for several hours without interruption......sigh ah bliss!!!!!! 

This meant  I got to play with my Seaside Shore stamp set from Stampin' Up. For a few weeks I've been scouring Pinterest for ideas and inspiration. The 2 cards I made  are slightly different to each other. 

. Here's the first card.

 FYI my card was not photographed on a hill, nor is there a slope on the window ledge....sadly the angle I must have held the camera as I crouched onto the floor to take the photo, makes it appear that way lol.  Why was I crouching on the floor you ask?  Because I have ceiling to floor windows.

 Any whoo.... I was going to actually copy Katina's card pretty closely. I got all my supplies cut the DSP popped it on top of the red CS and then......OMG I had cut the DSP in "portrait mode." As this paper has a design that emulates wavy sea water it's not the kind of DSP I could just rotate 90 degrees. So my cards had to be "portrait mode."  This necessitated some layout changes and I must say I am pretty happy with how they turned out.

 All the fish on this card were stamped in black ink. The 2 smaller fish were then coloured in using a blender pen and real red and crushed curry ink.

Here's the 2nd card.

You may have noticed the gradient colour on the DSP has been turned up the other way on this card. It starts darker at the top getting lighter as it graduates down the card. This gradient  colour change was noticed by my hubby and he did point out that it should be lighter at the top and get darker towards the bottom to emulate the sea.  Whilst this is true I pointed out you couldn't sea the seaweed as much with the darker colour at the bottom and he said, "Yeah, but it looks better that way."  Oh well, that's his opinion. I haven't made up my mind which one I like better yet. 

 Both cards have crumb cake ink sponged at the bottom of the DSP. The seaweed was stamped in wild wasabi ink and then coloured in with a blender pen and ink from the ink pad. I masked the seaweed in this 2nd card so I could then stamp the anchor in real red ink. 

The smaller fish is stamped in black ink and then coloured with crushed curry using a blender pen. The larger fish was stamped in night of navy ink.

Hopefully from this close up you can just see that the little fins on the smaller fish have been stamped again and then popped up with a bit of a dimensional and stuck on top of the fish. The word "swimmingly" has been re stamped in real red and also popped up on dimensionals on both cards.

An aquarium of fish!

as promised I have  another couple of cards featuring  the Seaside Shore stamp set from Stampin' Up.

I saw this card on pinterest, that led me to the blog of the lovely Kathleen. Click HERE to visit her amazing blog, Kathleen's Stamping Space. Kathleen has all the instructions, measurements, even an easy to follow video on how to recreate her fantastic  card.

 So recreate her card awesome I did. 

Here is a view of the inside of the card, which was sponged and stamped.

After case-ing Kathleen's card I decided to flip the design to landscape. I also flipped the embossed piece of card stock over so the embossed design was not raised, I hope that make sense.

I have decided to give the landscape style card to my dad for Father's Day -in Australia it's the 1st Sunday in September.

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming.....

Back again with another offering, this time with a nautical theme, no teddy bears or flowers in sight......thank goodness I here you sigh!

 Beware, though I have a plethora of ideas from pinterest and my mind that feature the stamp set, Seaside Shore from Stampin' Up. So onto today's creation. FYI today's photos do appear a little on the blurred side, not sure what happened there, apologies in advance.

I can't take credit for this creation. Once again the siren call of pinterest had me lost in it's thrall and I came upon THIS card from the lovely Sandy Mott. Click HERE to see the rest of her post featuring  her card and blog, The Scrap n' Stamp Shop. I loved Sandy's card so much that I had to re-create it. I have made a few slight changes. 

I used Wink of Stella on my the fish, seaweed and shells and a fine line runs along the top of the sponged sand ridges as well. Wink of Stella is ever so bashful when it comes to photography.  I did manage to get a close up, so you can see that I did actually use it and am not making it up!

 I actually made 2 of these cards  for my stash. I think they could be great masculine or children's cards. There is lots of fussy cutting on these cards, but it made for a relaxing afternoon of crafting. It also made me thankful that I don't have to fussy cut everything these days with the advent of coordinating punches and framelits/thinlits....  thank goodness there is a crafting god!
